This article is about an older version of DF.

These are the keys used in Adventure mode.

Key Bindings[edit]

  Movement
 
  • 8 2 4 6 7 9 1 3 - Move
  • - Move
  • Alt+(direction) - Move carefully or enter dangerous terrain
  • < or Shift+5 (num lock off) - Ascend
  • > or Ctrl+5 (num lock off) - Descend
  • . - Wait for a step
  • s - Stand or lie down*
  • T - Fast Travel
  • S - Sneak
  • m - Open movement preferences interface

*Use s to lay down then crawl past NPCs blocking your way.

  Combat
 
  • 8 2 4 6 7 9 1 3 - Random attack on adjacent creature
  • - Random attack on adjacent creature
  • A - Attack an adjacent creature
  • A then Enter - Change Mode to wrestle
  • f - Fire a projectile
  • t - Throw an item
  • C - Open combat preferences interface


  Environment
 
  • l - Look around
  • k - Talk to somebody
  • c - View companion interface
  • L - Search the nearby area very carefully (chance of discovering small creatures}
  • u - Interact with building, furniture, or mechanism
  Items
 
  • i - Inventory
  • d - Drop an item
  • g - Pickup an item
  • p - Put an item into a container
  • r - Remove an item you are wearing or from a container
  • w - Wear an item*
  • I - Interact with an object in inventory (unstick a weapon, refill waterskin etc)
  • x - Perform action (butcher, create item...)

*If you want to get a specific item from your backpack to your right hand (wield weapon), put current item into the backpack, and remove the other item from the backpack.
