This article is about an older version of DF.
Not to be confused with non-breeding creatures.

Hermaphrodites are creatures that have only one gender.

In Dwarf Fortress, these creatures lack [CASTE:MALE] and [CASTE:FEMALE] tags in their raws. How they reproduce is uncertain.

Certain creatures in Dwarf Fortress have a tremendous reproductive potential. Compared to those, hermaphrodites make excellent pets (assuming they don't try to kill your dwarves first).
