Can we safely loot a tomb if we totally need the stuff because, say, the last pickaxe is in it? Will the nobles want a bribe for letting me do it? – unsigned comment by 174.89.221.108

:No, you can't - the objects will continue to be owned by whoever was buried there. The scenario you describe is impossible, anyways - the only objects (other than the body) that will ever be stored in a tomb are finished goods such as clothes and crafts. --Quietust 21:45, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Ghosts create their own tombs?
In my current fortress, I have a "Hall of Remembrance" full of coffins designated for (b)urial. Nevertheless, a couple of dwarves went out and got shot up by goblins, rotting where they fell, and thus turned into ghosts. I just noticed that two of the coffins in my Hall of Remembrance have mysteriously become 1x1 tombs, owned by the Ghostly dwarves in question! I expect that memorializing those dwarves will cause the coffins to revert back to unassigned coffins, but I haven't checked this yet. --68.6.44.204 20:52, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
