A ring ° is a trade good made at a craftsdwarf's workshop or at a metalsmith's forge under any particular category using the "Make Crafts" job. Like all crafts, it is not possible to create them specifically (e.g. to satisfy mandates) - instead, you just have to roll the dice and hope you get lucky. On rare occasions, cutting a rough gem at a jeweler's workshop will yield a gem ring.

Once the economy activates, dwarf civilians may claim ownership of rings and store them in their rooms (or simply leave them sitting on the floor).

In Adventurer mode, up to 11 rings can be worn on each finger and toe, starting with the right thumb, left thumb, right index finger, left index finger, and so forth until reaching the left pinky finger, then continuing with the right first toe and eventually finishing with the left fifth toe for a total of 220 rings. Unlike in later versions, each finger needs to be completely filled before moving on to the next one, so in order to put a single ring on your right (3rd) ring finger you would need to equip 66 other rings on your thumbs and first two fingers.
