Axeward Year 1[edit]

Spring[edit]

With the undead threat outside our primary concern was moving the goods from outside to inside. After digging out what would be the barracks and temp farm lands we moved all our supplies inside and built a nice wall around the entrance. Our wood cutter was busy getting as much wood as possible while the undead were on the outskirts of the soon to be tomb however we did have one incident with an undead fox who was quickly taken down by our 3 miners and 1 woodcutter.

We did spot some undead wolves which caused some worry. We all know how dangerous a normal wolf alone but a pack of undead ones could be extremely damaging in these earlier days. The undead seem to enjoy the northern area and tend to stick around there so as long as we don't make too much noise around there I feel we should be fairly safe.

Summer[edit]

More undead wolves showed up but they never came close to the fort. Despite the death of the undead fox I feel they have not learned of our presence. We started mining out the first floor of the tomb and we were able to move the food from the temporary storage area to a more permanent place. This allowed us to use the soil based farm lands we had dug out in the spring to start growing some plump helmet. With the fist harvest occuring in mid-summer we seem to be in a good place.

However there are some potential problems. With all the rock on the first floor its making storage an issue. We need to move the rock out of the storage rooms before we can move from the temporary stockpiles. We already have a few complaining about the lack of chairs and beds. I don't want any problems so I will try to get this all fixed in the fall. I hope the digging starts to speed up.

Fall[edit]

Something strange is going on. Some deer have showed up to the south but they have no trace of undeath on them. This land is evil, one only needs to look at the trees to see that. So how these deer escaped the undeath may be our only way of staying alive. On yet another good note some traders stopped by but we have been unable to produce anything or setup a trading depot. I asked them to bring seeds and anvils next year. I regret not asking for some turtle meat.

An undead grizzly bear keeps coming a little too close to the tomb entrance. One time it was literally at our walls. It simply had to walk not 20 paces to enter the fort. It seems this undead grizzly doesn't know how to navigate all that well, something I am very happy about.

Much to our surprise some migrants arrived. I have no clue why anyone would want to come here. We just completed some bedrooms, have almost no wealth of any kind. This is not a place for dwarves. I bet the king forced them to join us. What I was worried about was how they came here. They came from the north! Horrible place to come from. From what we have seen of the undead's movement they enjoy the northern area. Luckily the migrants didn't provoke any of the undead.

Winter[edit]

Our drink has started to run low. While we have a large amount of plump helmet for drink production we have been unable to start due to the rocks in our stock piles. The migrants have really helped speed up the mining process which has allowed us to also start drink production. Just some dwarven wine for now but soon we shall have all types of alcohol.

The migrants aren't the only thing speeding up the mining, our 3 miners are now of legendary status. They dig so quickly that a storage room can be completed in under a single day! With the living area fully dug out I sent them to work on the dinning and deep farm lands.

Some more strange creatures, wolves, deer, and raccoons appeared without being undead. I have the feeling the southern area of Axeward is a safer area. I shall have some scouts keep an eye to make sure nothing sinister is lurking around there.
