For Dwarves, I've got 2 miners / stone workers / gem cutters / mechanics, 1 woodworker / lumberjack, 1 hunter, 1 smith, 1 farmer, and a trader / noble. Along with my dwarves, I've brought 3 dogs, a cat, and fate tossed me a llama and a horse. So far, things are looking pretty good. More to come.

By Mid-Spring, I had the start of my fortress hollowed out; and the workshops built. I made my woodcutter an axe, and finished a storeroom for food, below the brewery and butchery, going astray from my 7 x 7 plan, making the room 9 x 9, as I generally fill storerooms for food rather quickly. I also started to cut some gems (moss agate) and am thinking of what to do with them... Crafts maybe? anyway, spring is done and over, and now it is Summer in Vetekzulban.

Well, Summer has come and gone at Vetekzulban, and in a word, Summer was productive. I made some decent temp quarters for the dwarves, with built in dining. The larder is stocked, and the crafts dwarves have been busy, making all sorts of things to be sold when the caravan comes around. I’ve cut some of the trees, and set my farmer to gather some of the plants outside of my fortress. I’ve staggered across a small problem… I don’t have all that much sand / clay / loam, so unless I get a pump system to make muddy floors; I’ll have a bit of trouble getting a farm established… but besides that; things are just marvelous. My two miners have found love, and I’m going to sit down, and make separate quarters for my dwarves… Beds, tables, chairs, dressers, and maybe other stuff… But anyway; All in all, Summer of 301 was very favorable for my dwarves

Well, fall is over now, and Winter is upon the Dwarves of Vetekzlban. The trader came and gone; and with that, I’ve traded most of the crafts I made in the summer, along with a couple of ones I made before the traders came. Now I have a pretty big stock of leather and cloth. I’ve been sending my farmer out to gather some more wild plants outside of the fortress. I’ve made a meeting hall; 6 tables, 6 chairs, and made a workshop zone for the cloth and leather. I’ve had one foul incident. After one of my stray dogs gave birth to a puppy, I suffered a minor rhesus macaque attack, but luckily my dogs tore them to shreds, and my ranger was able to butcher a few to get some meat, and fat. For some reason, he decided to leave chunks and skin in the butchery, and in turn flooded most of my fortress with miasma. Near the end of the season, I managed to get some migrants. Fate tossed me a crafts dwarf, a fish dissector, weaver, furnace operator, a stone crafter, a woodworker, and a horse foal. I had my weaver make some bags for all of the excess plump helmet spawn kicking around in my food stores. I also made a meeting hall for he next caravan when it comes in. I managed to dig out most of the area that I plan to turn into 3 x 4 apartments too, so all in all, Autumn was a good season.

All’s quiet at the fort of Vetekzulban. Winter has been uneventful; but somewhat fruitful. I’ve cut down some trees, made lots of crafts to sell, got a hunter and a fisher out getting food, and my farmer; now herbalist is gathering plants with my weaver. Also, I’ve been brewing booze so my dwarves don’t have to drink the river water. At midwinter, when I was watching where my fisher was going, I found out that the pond he was fishing at was lined with raw turquoise, so I began an operation to pump the water out into a cistern I dug next to the pond. I had about half of the water pumped out, before my trader was too exhausted to continue. On a lighter note, the bedrooms are all but finished, needing just to be designated and doors to be attached, and my horse gave birth to a foal.

It’s been a year since the seven dwarves left their homes to become settlers in a remote foothill, but now those seven dwarves are now twenty seven , and the fort is prospering. Spring was announced by the birth of a puppy, and my trader and smith having a party in the common room. Later on, but still in the early months of the season, one of my dogs gave birth to another puppy as well. On the 18th of Granite, an elven caravan arrived, which I traded a good number of my bone, shell, and stone crafts… unfortunately, I offered up a tower cap barrel, and that irked the elves, so they packed up shop, and left. But looking up, a group of migrants arrived! Fate tossed me a clothier, a peasant, a lye maker, a furnace operator, a cow calf, a horse, a gem setter, another peasant, a child, a crafts dwarf, trapper, a third peasant, a miller, yak calf, kitten, milker, a fourth peasant, and a second child. So now, my population is 27 dwarves along with 16 other animals. On the fourth of slate, to celebrate the arrival of the new migrants, my miner, Amost threw a party in the common room. By mid spring, I was able to get the turquoise out after hand pumping out most of the water into the cistern I dug. On the 25th of Slate, Amost, and Tun married! My dwarves, well at least two of them have found true love.  On the 24th of Felstite, Tirist, my metal smith withdrew from society; taken by a strage mood. He claimed the main forge. I’ve also started to form my military, a small defense force of five dwarves, all four peasants and the lye maker. Spring was a good season, all in all.

The summer of 302 was brought in by the forming of my military; the squad of 5 dwarves, armed with every weapon type. I have them in the once common sleeping / dining room. I dug out 10 more apartments. A guild of humans have approached my fortress, and we made a trade contract with them. I traded some of my crafts for food and a bar of blood metal; which my metal smith; still in her strange mood, promptly took to her forge… and several weeks later, she came out a master armorer; making  a legendary suit of iron chain mail, with bone spikes and an image in blood metal of traveling dwarves. By midsummer, I was blessed with another bunch of migrants. Another party was thrown shortly after their arrival. Now my population is up to 35 dwarves and 14 animals, after butchering a few. Around the 19th of Malachite I ran out of booze, so I had my plant gatherers go out and gather up some plants, and my Brewers to make some booze. I’ve expnded my dining room and meeting hall into a much larger room, that will be much nicer as well. Smoothed stone walls, and floors, with engravings on the walls as well. Sadly, one of my dwarves was killed in a training accident… I have also dug a section to be used as a Thaig, Where the fallen of my Hamlet will be laid to rest; to return to Stone. After the death of my Hammerdwarf, my dwarves mourning must be swift; for a new season has come…

Fall started off with the birth of a puppy… I really should get around to training all of those war dogs and hunting dogs… but one thing at a time… My Squad leader has adopted two of the war dogs, so now my military is getting to be quite large; but on another note, one of my recruits; the one trained to be my hammer dwarf’s replacement was injured during a sparing accident…  On the twelfth of Limestone, a caravan of Halfling traders arrived, from which I bought food, some gold bars, bloodmetal bars, and some booze… But… I suffered my first siege… I was reduced down to 10 animals, 2 children and 5 other dwarves… I decided that it was within the interests of my dwarves for them to abandon their fort…

Well, I had some [[fun]], and all in all, I think it was pretty successful. I learned before doing this fort, I never knew about making crafts to sell, as usually when I queued them up to be completed, nothing would happen... ever; but I'll be detailing my next fort here...

Black Knight's Page[edit]

Well, Hello everyone out there in DwarfFortresWiki-land! I'm not new to the wiki, a long time lurker, but I've just recently decided to make my own wiki page chronicling my adventures, and mishaps in the game.


Right now, I'm using the Dig Deeper mod, I like it; gives a bit of variety, and I've just made a new world; Lina Muya... and on the date February 8th of 2010; I've started a fortress... One I shall stick with until the last dwarven life is extinguished by goblins, orcs, error, carp, landslide, or some other turn of events.

I'll be posting updates of what happens every season at the fortress of Vetekzulban; or Targetbanners in our tongue.


Spring of 301

Well, Summer has come and gone at Vetekzulban, and in a word, Summer was productive. I made some decent temp quarters for the dwarves, with built in dining.
