Nowadays, that 1000 point hit is divided by how many masterwork items a dwarf has created. So if a dwarf has created 50 masterworks (pretty easy for a legendary dwarf to churn out), the hit is -20, which is the same as "[[cave adaptation|nauseated by the sun recently]]". It's strong, but definitely not a game changer. A dwarf with more than 100 masterworks will barely even notice one of them getting destroyed or defaced.
