Map images are exported out of the game as regular old bitmaps, which leads to hugely unnecessary file sizes. These maps can be ''greatly'' compressed into a lossless compressed file format optimized for the game's repetitious tileset, {{tt|.FDF-MAP}}, creating files are 1500 to 2000 times smaller than equivalent 28-[[z-level|layer]] bitmaps and 20 to 50 times smaller than equivalent {{tt|PNG}} files. This makes them small enough to upload and transfer across the web without chewing up bandwidth; a 150MB output file can be delivered for as little as ~100kb.
