I searched for Embark and got nuthin - so this is better than that, if not by much. I'll be back later to work on it - If you feel you've got something valuable to add, feel free, this is a wiki after all. --Albedo 00:54, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Please see Location
I suspect it already has everything you're looking for. (don't forget to make a redirect and flag for deletion) --Edward 09:39, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

The term "embark" is far more than just location, depending how it's used, and it's used variably. It's a term that has a special adaptation in DF. It includes choosing location, but also choosing your equipment and your dwarfs, and their skills, and so on.

It's both that first world/regional/local screen, and the drop-off the moment your dwarfs land, before you unpause. It's used in all these ways (and possibly more.)

I agree we should use links rather than have redundant pages - but there is info that's not anywhere that I can find, and nothing that addressed this word as it's used. And that's exactly what a wiki does, describe how something is, practically speaking and from social pressure, rather than any "perfect model" of the topic.

How would you (or anyone else) suggest addressing the word "embark"? --Albedo 20:56, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Add additional links to the relevant parts of the several tutorials already established for it? (as opposed to essentially duplicating them.) --Edward 21:56, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
