This article is about an older version of DF.

Over time dwarves will have different thoughts. In the latest version of DF, the rate at which a dwarf gains certain thoughts is controlled by personality modifiers. Thoughts have effects on the dwarf's happiness.

The change in Template:L that triggers bad thoughts about thirst, hunger, and fatigue can also slow the speed at which a dwarf works and moves.

To view a dwarf's thoughts, press k, move the cursor to the dwarf, and press enter twice. (Or v, move to the dwarf, then z and enter.) Now you will see a page describing the dwarf's feelings and thoughts, physical description, and a set of phrases describing personality traits.
