I am of the opinion that we need a separate weight article, like the value article, which explains how weight is determined in DF2010. The formula used for determining the weight of an item is now by category. For example, as near as I can tell, the formula for the item_pants.txt file is (layer size * material density)/5190, while item_armor.txt is (layer size/ material size )*(material density/1010).
