Eagle men are animal people variants of the common eagle who can be found in most savage biomes. They spawn in groups of anywhere between 1-3 individuals and are generally content to keep to themselves. In terms of size, they are a little over half the weight of the average dwarf. All eagle men are born with Legendary skill in climbing.

Like other savage animal people, eagle men can join civilizations, become historical figures, appear as visitors and be playable in adventurer mode.

Some dwarves like eagle men for their high soaring.

Notably, as a winged creature, you can change z-levels in much the same way as a terrestrial creature ascends stairways, using the '<' key to move up one z-level and the '>' key to move down one z-level (if there's empty space below you). This is obviously quite useful for many things, such as traversing rivers, scaling mountains, and escaping from hairy situations.

Some eagle men musicians will occasionally sing songs about a strange inn that travelers can exit any time they like, but they can never truly leave. Such songs are always accompanied by a two-minute solo on a stringed instrument.

Most armors are too large for them to wear, so a fair amount of skill in Dodging is recommended.
